Jana Kerima Stolzer and Lex Rütten have been working together since 2016 to realize mixed-media installations and performances that understand the living environment, influenced by technology, as a changing and shaping part of the world. The duo relate the interaction between the environment and living beings not only to humans, but also and above all to flora and fauna. The protagonists of the multimedia works are mostly creatures that have no voice in reality: hybrid beings from nature and technology, plants and animals that convey their own view of the world in musical-like environments. The duo collects stories from around the world, based on factual research, to develop narratives that allow for new connections. They mix historical and scientific research with science fiction to sketch the (im)possible for the future. The works move in both physical and digital spaces, which is why the duo produce in exhibition contexts as well as on the independent theatre scene.
